Saving the U&D in the 1980s: Trolleys, Tubes & Doodlebugs  presented by Gene Dauner

August 18, 2019 2-4p.m.
Empire State Railway Museum
70 Lower High Street, Phoenicia, NY 12464

Free to public with request for small donation to help defray out cost.

Gene Dauner (photo-journalist, historian and ESRM member) is once again delving into his extensive kodachrome collection to bring another unique Kodak carousel presentation to the Empire State Railway Museum. He documented what went on in the 1980s after the last freight trains ran along the Ulster and Delaware corridor. His many, never-before-seen slides on the developing tourist railroad industry that saved the U&D rails include the Kingston trolleys, the Phoenicia tube train, the Arkville doodlebug, and beyond.
